Looking for good food and friendly service? The Mill Race is a contemporary, relaxed village pub in the Wye Valley, just 3 miles from Ross-on-Wye and 6 miles from Monmouth. The pub is owned and managed by people who are passionate about food, and nearly all of our produce is sourced locally.

Positioned on the borders of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire, we are surrounded by wonderful producers. We work in partnership with farms, vineyards and artisan distilleries to bring the best of the Wye Valley and surrounding area to you. Our menus change seasonally to ensure that we’re making the most of local produce and supporting our suppliers to maintain sustainable business practices.

We like to give simple food a fresh, modern twist, and we offer an extensive range of wines from all over the globe to bring a touch of international flair to your meal.

  • Hearts soared when our inspectors found chalkboard menus promoting regional, seasonal produce: farm meats, village-baked bread, locally-shot game and local brewery ale.

  • My wife and I were staying at a local B&B and the owners recommended The Mill Race. We popped in without booking and have been treated to one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The quality of the locally sourced food was outstanding and was cooked to utter perfection! I’ve never had a better steak.

  • “Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice of local beers in good condition; wide choice of wines by the glass. Lunch was amazing – fish and chips was freshly cooked and included homemade tartare sauce and yummy chips. A butternut squash and sage risotto was amongst the best we’d ever eaten- something we’d have been proud to serve at home!”
